We are in the year 1888, and we have just discovered definitive evidence of the presence of valuable resources beneath the surface of the planet. The celerium could become a source of energy that would lead humanity to the future, and sylvanite is the densest material that has been discovered to date. And even more important than these findings has been the discovery of ice on the surface of the planet, which could be used to create an atmosphere and allow the planet to be colonized. A fierce struggle for these resources has been unleashed. Your mining corporation is determined to lead this field from the outset and claim as its own the precious minerals that are hidden beneath the surface of the red planet.

In Mission: Red Planet, two to six players assume the role of mining corporations bound for Mars in a Steampunk-style Victorian era. Players must send astronauts to explore different areas of Mars and extract valuable resources from the planet.

This edition of Mission: Red Planet remains true to the original game, but also includes new Event cards and allows astronauts to explore Phobos. These new features make this edition the definitive version of Mission: Red Planet.
