Scythe (1-5 players, 115 minutes) is an alternate history board game set in the 1920s. It's a period of ranching and warfare, broken hearts and rusty gears, innovation and courage.

In Scythe, each player represents a fallen leader attempting to restore his honor and lead his faction to power in Eastern Europe. Players conquer territories, recruit new recruits, gather resources, gain villagers, build structures, and activate monstrous mechs.

Each player starts the game with different resources (strength, money, movement capabilities, and popularity), the specific abilities of the selected faction, and hidden goals. The starting positions for each faction are specially calibrated to contribute to the asymmetrical nature of the game.

Scythe gives players almost complete control over their own destiny. Aside from each player's secret objectives, the only element of luck is the encounter cards that players will draw while interacting with the citizens of the newly explored lands and the combat cards that grant a temporary boost during combat. Engaging in combat will also be the player's decision, not luck or randomness.

Scythe has a continuous action selection mechanism (no rounds or phases) to keep the game moving continuously reducing the waiting time between turns. Although there is direct confrontation, there is no elimination of players, since units cannot be destroyed or killed.

Each part of Scythe has an associated build engine. Players can upgrade their actions to be more efficient, build structures to improve their position on the map, enlist new recruits to improve faction skills, activate mechs to make it harder for opponents to invade, and expand their borders to collect more and various resources. . The order in which players upgrade their engines gives the feeling of single matches, even if you're playing with the same faction.
