Sound Box

Do you have a good ear? Can you distinguish several noises, even if they sound at the same time? Let's check it out! Sound Box is a cooperative game in which you'll have to listen carefully to your classmates while they emit a multitude of strange sounds to guess concepts of all kinds. Designed by Hjalmar Hach and Lorenzo Silva, 4 to 7 players can participate, from 8 years old, in games of about 45 minutes. Get ready for the most extravagant concert you've ever experienced!

At the start of each round, all but one player places sound cards on the board and draws a numbered token from a bag to find out which card they got. Take your time to find the perfect sound that represents the concept that your sound card shows. You will have to do a good interpretation to make sure they identify it correctly! If you are the player who must guess the sounds, tune your ear well. You will have to put on some glasses that will prevent you from seeing to concentrate all your attention on your ears.

When the time starts, all the sound makers will play your theme… at the same time! Over the course of 13 chaotic seconds, your living room will become the most extravagant auditorium in the neighborhood. The combinations of sounds that can resonate at the same time are endless: while a genie comes out of his lamp, a bomb falls, someone fights a dragon, an important tennis match is being played, and lightning strikes on a stormy night.

When time runs out, silence will reign again... And it is the moment in which the person in charge of distinguishing the sounds demonstrates his expertise. On the table there will be many sound cards, both those that have been played (and interpreted) by the rest of the classmates and others taken at random. Each guessed card scores one point for everyone, but on the first mistake the round ends immediately. Another player takes the role of listener, and the rest take cards and tokens. If throughout the game you earn enough points to reach the end of the sound track, you will be victorious. But be careful... Each sound card that has not been guessed at the end of each round will make you lose life, depending on the token associated with it. If your heart-shaped marker reaches the end of its circuit, you will have lost.

Sound Box is a game that stimulates creativity and in which laughter is more than guaranteed. The larger the group… the louder the concert will be! Its few rules are easy to understand, making it an ideal game for a casual or family audience. However, coordinating the team well and finding the right sounds at the key moments can be quite a challenge. Tune up your voice, sharpen your ear and dive headfirst into the sound box!
