Le Havre

Le Havre is a game about managing a port, buying ships and constructing buildings.
On each turn, players must decide whether to obtain merchandise of a type or carry out a building action.
The number of merchandise offered varies from shift to shift. New goods are added on a regular basis, increasing in number until a player takes them.
Wood, clay, and iron are building materials. Fish, grain, and livestock are used to feed your port workers. The actions of the buildings allow to process the goods; you just have to flip the counters.
For example, wood can be processed in the charring furnace to transform it into charcoal. Whereas it was previously a building material, it now provides more energy. Energy is needed, for example, to process the clay in the brickyard and transform it into bricks. The charring kiln and brickyard are just two of the many buildings you'll find in Le Havre. Only a few of the additional special buildings included are used in each game, making each game experience different.
Players need to build ships out of wood, iron, and steel at a shipyard in order to meet their needs for food, which increase from round to round.
With the exception of luxury cruise ships, ships provide food every round. Players with ships can also use the shipping company to transport and sell goods.
Players can also use their money (francs) to buy ships and buildings. These can be built with materials or purchased with money. Any player can enter any building. Many buildings require an entrance fee, usually food.
At the end of the game, the player with the highest fortune wins. Fortune is the sum total of money and the value of the player's ships and buildings.
Le Havre is a game for 1-5 players, which comes in a reduced version and a full version for provide the right level of challenge for any playgroup.
