There is much commotion in Istanbul's Grand Bazaar as merchants and their assistants race through the narrow alleys in an attempt to be more successful than their competitors. Everything must be well organized: wheelbarrows must be filled with goods in warehouses, and transported quickly by helpers to their various destinations. What is your goal? Be the first merchant to collect a certain number of rubies.

In Istanbul you lead a team of one merchant and his four assistants through 16 bazaar locations. In each of these locations you can perform a specific action. The challenge, however, is that to do an action you will have to move your merchant and one of his assistants there, then leave your assistant there (so he can take care of the details while you worry about more important things). . If you want to use that helper again in the future, the merchant will have to return to the location to pick him up. You will have to carefully plan your moves so as not to find that you have no helpers left and are unable to do anything...

In more detail, during your turn you move your merchant and his entourage of helpers one or two spaces across the bazaar, and you either drop off a helper at your new location or pick up one you had previously left, and finally you take an action. If you encounter other merchants or certain individuals at the location you will be able to do a small extra action. Possible actions include:

• Pay to increase the capacity of your wheelbarrow, which at the beginning of the game only has capacity for 2 units of each good.
• Fill your forklift with a specific good until it reaches its capacity.
• Acquire a special skill, and the sooner you go there, the easier it will be to achieve it.
• Buy or exchange goods for rubies.
• Sell special combinations of goods to get the money you'll need to do everything else.

When a merchant has collected five rubies in his wheelbarrow, the players complete the round and the game ends. If this player is the only one who has reached the goal he automatically wins; In any other case, ties are broken by the money each person has in their hand.
