Abstract Academy is a card game where the competition is fierce. You and your fellow art school students compete to earn top marks from your professors while trying to add your own personal touch to each piece. The unexpected twist? The art school is broke, so you'll have to share a canvas with your rivals!

The game is played over three rounds, with two or four players, and in each round, players must complete a new canvas. At the start of the game, two to three scoring cards are placed for each round, so everyone knows what they need to achieve to score points. Additionally, at the start of each round, each player receives an inspiration card showing a pattern they must try to create on the canvas.

In a two-player game, players take turns placing canvas cards on a shared 4x4 playing area, and in a four-player game, they play on a shared 5x5 area. The canvas cards are divided into quadrants, each colored yellow, red, or blue. The canvas grows organically as you all play cards, and the borders aren't fixed until you have four (or five) cards in a row or column. The edge of the canvas closest to you is your starting row, and once the canvas is fixed at its size, no one else can play in your starting row (unless all the other spaces are occupied).

Once the canvas is full, the two rows closest to you form your scoring zone. If the color patterns in your zone complete a scoring card better than the patterns in any other player's zone, you keep the scoring card. Additionally, if you've created the correct pattern in your scoring zone, you can score your inspiration card. Whoever has the most points after three rounds is the star pupil and wins!
