The infamous Longships of the Ironborn are a cause of fear for seafaring traders and coastal villages throughout the Seven Kingdoms. Raiders make up the bulk of the forces these longships equip, as they both navigate them and raid land from them to seize treasure, goods, and people to enslave. Although they are a people who move mainly by sea, ironborn have little fear of drowning, which is why raiders wear light mail even when embarked. Their heavy armor provides decent protection while not hindering their movement, making them ideal flanking troops. Raiders are not trained to hold their own, however, so they are vulnerable to any impetuous assault by cavalry or heavily armored troops.
