In their search for past and future knowledge, many people make terrible mistakes. Their failed rituals provoke the metamorphosis of their bodies and subject them to the higher will of a being for whom no knowledge is vetoed. The Lurker on the Threshold seeks the way to manipulate the world from its domains alien to time and space. The researchers are the only ones capable of putting an end to the dangerous machinations of Yog-Sothoth, but in doing so they risk joining the mindless servants who oppose them.

The Beyond Threshold expansion contains additional researchers, board modules, a new monster, access to two unique scenarios and the components necessary for researchers to confront the omniscient Yog-Sothoth.
