Elven Textured Roller

Textured rollers for smoothing and creating textures in putties, clays, and pastes. Made of non-stick, transparent PMMA plastic. Non-toxic.

  • Length: 14.50 cm (5.5 inches)
  • Diameter: 2.5 cm (1 inch)
  • Scale: 28-35 mm

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Mix the sculpting putty/clay until ready to use according to the manufacturer's instructions.

2. Place the putty/clay on the surface to be textured. For best results, smooth and Smooth the surface evenly before applying the rollers. It is advisable to use a smooth roller.

3rd Depending on the type of material being used, it may be advisable to dampen the roller or use modeling petroleum jelly to prevent sticking.

4th Carefully roll over the surface, applying the same pressure to obtain a uniform texture.

5th Trim any excess putty or clay once it has fully cured.

MATERIALS:

There are countless clays and putties on the market, and all can be textured as long as the appropriate technique is used.

Generally, polymer clays (like Super Sculpey) are quite easy to work with using these rollers and allow for corrections, as they do not dry until baked. If the goal is to create textured bases, we recommend using pre-made bases. On MDF, it's possible to texture the clay directly onto the MDF base and then bake everything, including the base. The baking time for clays is 15 minutes at 150 degrees Celsius (°C). The MDF will leave a smell similar to toast, but it won't burn. Epoxy putties are different, and there are more techniques to achieve similar results. The good thing is that they don't need to be baked and can be applied directly onto plastic materials. In the case of green epoxy putty (Green Stuff), which is especially sticky, it will be necessary to dampen the rollers with a little water. You can also reduce the stickiness of this putty by applying talcum powder or, for best results, a little modeling gel. Other epoxy putties, such as the two-component Milliput, are also suitable, but we recommend not over-wetting them as this makes them difficult to work with. Furthermore, if the mixture is too sticky, it's best to continue... kneading until its stickiness is reduced.

With this type of putty, it is essential to properly clean the rollers after use.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE:

After finishing working with the rollers, clean them with Scratch brushes and plenty of water if any material residue remains on the design.

SAFETY:

These tools should not be used by children without proper supervision.
