Roman Textured Roller

Textured roller ideal for highlighting details and creating reliefs on all types of putties, clays, or pastes used in modeling and sculpture. Made of transparent PMMA plastic with a non-stick finish. Non-toxic product.

Dimensions:

  • Length: 14.50 cm (5.5 inches)
  • Diameter: 2.5 cm (1 inch)
  • Pattern Size: Roman pavement with Roman letters and designs.

HOW TO USE:

  1. Mix the putty or clay well following the manufacturer's recommendations until you obtain a texture ready for application.
Place the material on the desired base. To ensure a clean result, it is preferable to smooth the surface before applying the relief. You can use a smooth roller first for this step.
  2. Depending on the type of putty or clay, it may be necessary to lightly dampen the roller or apply modeling petroleum jelly, which helps prevent the material from sticking to the tool.
  3. Roll the roller evenly, applying the same pressure across the entire surface to achieve an even texture.
  4. Trim off any excess edges when the material is completely hardened or dry.

COMPATIBILITY WITH DIFFERENT MATERIALS:

These rollers are compatible with a wide variety of pastes and putties.

Thermosetting clays such as Super Sculpey work especially well with this type of tool, as they allow you to correct mistakes before baking. For textured bases, it is recommended to apply the clay directly onto MDF wood bases, which can be baked along with the clay. The standard baking time is 15 minutes at 150°C. MDF wood may give off a toasted bread smell during baking, without actually burning.

As for epoxy putties, there are multiple technical possibilities for achieving good finishes. The main advantage is that they do not require baking and can be applied to materials such as plastic.

When using green stuff, its sticky nature makes it advisable to pre-moisten the roller. Talcum powder can also be used, or, for an optimal finish, a very thin layer of petroleum jelly.

Milliput putty, another common epoxy option, is also suitable, but it should not be mixed with too much water, as this can make it difficult to apply. If the mixture is too soft, it should be kneaded a little more to reduce its stickiness.

*** In all these cases, it is essential to clean the roller after use to preserve the details of the engraving in perfect condition.

CARE AND CLEANING:

After finishing the work, if any residue remains in the design gaps, it is recommended to use Scratch brushes with water to easily remove the residue.

SAFETY:

This product is not suitable for children without adult supervision.
