Recall Ancestral Textured Roller

This textured roller is a tool specially designed for imprinting patterns on clays, putties, and other pastes used in model making. It is made of PMMA, a transparent, durable, and non-toxic acrylic plastic with non-stick properties that facilitate its use.

Product Measurements:

  • Length: 14.5 cm (5.5 inches)
  • Diameter: 2.5 cm (1 inch)
  • Recommended Scales: 1/22 - 1/32 - 1/35 - 1/43 - 1/48

STEPS FOR USE:

  1. Prepare the putty or clay by kneading it properly, always following the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Place the material on the base and spread it evenly, making sure the surface is level. It's helpful to use a smooth roller first to prepare this initial layer.
  3. Depending on the type of putty, you may want to lightly dampen the roller or apply a layer of modeling petroleum jelly to prevent sticking.
  4. Roll the tool with even pressure over the surface to transfer the texture.
  5. Trim off any excess material once it has dried or hardened.

WHAT MATERIALS WORK BEST?

This roller works effectively with multiple materials.

Polymer clays, such as Super Sculpey, are especially easy to use because they don't harden until baked. This allows you to work at your leisure and correct details. If you want to work directly on a base, we recommend using wooden bases MDF: You can texture on top and bake it all together (150°C for 15 minutes). The MDF will withstand the heat without burning, although it may give off a slight odor when heated. With epoxy putties, the results are also excellent, although the approach varies. Green putty is very sticky, so you'll need to wet your roller or apply modeling petroleum jelly to prevent it from sticking. You can also sprinkle talcum powder on it to make it easier to work with. With Milliput putty, it's important not to add too much water. If you find it becomes difficult to handle due to its stickiness, simply continue kneading until you achieve the desired texture. *** After using epoxy putties, clean your rollers carefully to avoid buildup. MAINTENANCE: Use brushes Scratch and use plenty of water to remove any remaining material embedded in the roller's design. This will prolong its lifespan and maintain its accuracy.
