Alien: The Role Playing Game

The space is vast, dark, and hostile. Dying stars emit gamma rays and neutrino waves that can cook you alive, there are black holes that will tear you apart if they catch you, and the same emptiness boils your blood and collapses your brain. Screaming is useless, because nobody can hear your screams; and holding your breath will only make your lungs explode. Also, the space is more populated than you imagine; its borders are constantly expanding. Rival powers are waging a bitter cold war as corporations, fueled by greed, vie for their most precious resources. The colonists risk their lives sailing through the stars in search of new worlds in which to prosper or perish. And there are things that lurk in the shadows of each asteroid, strange, alien and lethal things.

In your hands is the official ALIEN RPG, a universe of body horror and ruthless corporate ambitions in which synthetic individuals play God while space transporters and colonial marines hatch nightmare creatures within their own bodies. It is a cruel and unforgiving universe in which all of you are expendable.

This richly illustrated, full-color manual describes the ALIEN universe in the year 2183 and provides quick and effective rules specifically designed for an authentic ALIEN experience. Two different game modes are proposed:

The cinematic format consists of pre-generated scenarios that emulate the plot development of an ALIEN movie. This variant is designed to play isolated games with a frenetic pace and emphasis on brutality. Characters will have little chance of survival. This primer contains an introductory scenario designed for this format: Hope's Last Day.
The campaign format is designed to play continuously with the same cast of characters throughout several games, during which you can explore the universe of ALIEN with greater freedom. Random result tables and other useful tools are provided for the immediate creation of star systems, colonies, missions, encounters, and NPCs with which to develop a campaign.

The rules of this game are based on the acclaimed Year Zero Engine system, used in award-winning games such as Tales from the Loop, Forbidden Lands, and Mutant: Year Zero, adapted and developed to better capture ALIEN's main themes: terror and action in the cold blackness of space.
