In Folk Horror you will find everything you need to set your Barter games in settings where rural terror coexists with paganism, idyllic landscapes and the most shameful secrets. The traditional folk heritage, the legends and myths that exist in the past of humanity, the pagan cults, the rituals of sacrifice, the collision between urban modernity and rural primitivism, are, without a doubt, part of the foundations on which which establishes the concept of folk horror, whose main references are found in the cinema, such as El hombre de wicker or, most recently, Midsommar. In these pages, the authors break down the main elements and characteristics of the genre, tips for directing your games, recommendations for creating a soundtrack for the adventure, new backgrounds and small adaptations to the Barter rules. In addition, it includes 5 complete scenarios, a random scenario generator, adapted protagonist document and a new game mode: Collaborative Barter (without the Horror figure), with an exclusive adventure for 2 players, "The Lighthouse Keepers". Barter combines the classic role with brushstrokes of the new narrative wave. It uses a simple and direct mechanic (1-2 d10), where the decisions of the protagonists give rise to moments of tension with consequences ("exchanges"). It includes mechanics such as: the "tablecloth of consequences" (which governs the choices and fate of the players) and the "die of chaos" (1d4 that simulates the advance and leak of horror). The creation of the protagonists takes place during the presentation of the scenario (in medias res). A game system for 1 to 4 main players and a game director (playing the Horror), adaptable to any type of setting in a tone of terror, horror or adversity that spreads through the stage, inspired by: Gumshoe and his impulses, Trophy and its scenario structure or Itras By and its resolution cards.
