The Children of Fear

A campaign in Asia in the 1920s

September 1923. An urgent and mysterious telegram sent by an American adventurer embarks investigators on an epic journey through China, central Asia, northern India and hidden Tibet. Following in the footsteps of the famous explorer and Buddhist monk Hiuen-Tsiang (immortalized in the fantastic Chinese saga Journey to the West), investigators will discover ancient temples, lost lakes, dusty museums, ossuaries, venerable monasteries and secret, hidden valleys in an epic quest to Prevent the "King of Fear" and his lieutenants from destroying everything they love.

The Children of Fear is a multi-part campaign set in the 1920s that explores some of the myths and legends of Central Asia and Northern India. The core of the campaign is designed to let players take the reins, allowing the investigators to decide what their journey will be like. In addition, the plot line has been designed with flexibility, allowing for play at different scales or with varying degrees of involvement of the Cthulhu Mythos, either including the outer gods themselves or as a series of more contained adventures based on the occultism. Guidance is provided for the Warden to tailor the exact nature of the threat to best suit the tastes of his or her group.

Eight chapters detail the places of interest, encounters and dangers that can be found in Peking, Sian, the Taklamakan, Peshawar and Kham, to name some of the places to visit during the campaign, on a journey that will take them from China to the north. from India to Tibet. Includes detailed appendices with rules for travel management, non-player characters, spells, a reference bibliography, and much more.
