Emperor Trajan is planning the construction of a monument for eternity: Trajan's Forum. It will be the largest and most glorious emperor's forum the Roman Empire has ever seen. The building aims to showcase Trajan's success as "Optimus Princeps" (literally, the greatest ruler) in the most impressive way possible, while enhancing the well-being and glory of Rome's honorable citizens, both inside and outside the city. .

Players command colonies founded by Trajan himself, and thus are the leaders of the most prestigious cities in the entire Roman Empire. While trying to optimize the expansion of your colony in the best possible way, you must also maintain contact with Rome to ensure the support of the capital and the Emperor. Each round, you will have to try to find the best places to build buildings on the map of your colony board and, with this, gain important resources and additional abilities through special citizens. In this way, you will be able to build for valuable victory points and other favorable privileges.

Each player will try to develop their colony in the best possible way. At the start of the game, the street grid of each colony will be covered by the colony tiles. In each round, 2 street cards will be revealed, which will determine the two streets from which you must take colony tiles. Resources are primarily used to carry out construction actions in your own Colony and to house emissaries in Trajan's Forum in Rome. Through build actions, players can earn victory points immediately or during scoring at the end of each cycle. Players also have a chance to earn victory points by completing Trajan card quests. At the end of the game, the player with the highest number of victory points is the winner.
