Acrylic Repair Gel

Brush repair gel is a product used to restore paintbrushes, as well as makeup brushes. It is a water-soluble product and does not stain because it contains a mixture of conditioning agents and solvents that work together to reshape and recondition your brush bristles. It is usually applied by gently massaging the bristles with the restorer already applied, then rinsing and reshaping the tip. Brush restorer is used as part of the final stage in the production of modeling brushes to give them their final shape, and it is a very useful tool for maintaining the quality of your painting tools as well as prolonging their lifespan.

This product is compatible with brush soap and should be used immediately after removing all traces of paint from the brush bristles. Restore the tip of your favorite brush and make it look like new.

This set includes 1 bottle of 17ml

How to Use Brush Restorer

This type of brush repair gel is a product designed to clean and rejuvenate painting tools that have been used with acrylic, oil, or solvent-based paints, helping to remove dried residue and restore them to their original condition.

Here are the general steps on how to use it:

  1. Wet the bristles of the brush you want to repair with water.
  2. Apply a small amount of repair gel to one of your fingers or a clean surface.
  3. Gently massage the bristles into the gel, working the product through the bristles to the ferrule.
  4. Use your fingers or a cloth to reshape the bristles.
  5. Let it air dry completely for about 10 minutes before using it again. Avoid leaving the tip resting directly against anything, for example, placed upside down. Place the brushes in a glass, as this can cause the bristles to lose their shape.
  6. Before painting again, gently clean the tip with water to soften it.
  7. Repeat this process after each painting session, and your painting tools will always be like new.

Is it possible to repair the tips of synthetic brushes?

Yes, it is possible to repair the tips of synthetic bristles in most cases. The repair will depend on the severity of the damage and the type of brush you are using.

Regarding the resistance of a synthetic brush versus a natural one, synthetics are generally more resistant in terms of durability and resistance to chemicals such as solvents and solvent-based paints. However, when they become deformed, they tend to curl outwards, similar to a palm tree. This curling of the plastic is not difficult to correct. Natural bristles, on the other hand, are more Soft, fragile, and flexible at the same time. These will eventually crack when they are very deteriorated, but it is very difficult for them to develop "palm tree"-shaped deformations. Even if they do, they are much easier to repair.

In general, both synthetic and natural materials can be repaired when they are not yet excessively damaged. Proper care, regular cleaning, and gentle handling can prolong their lifespan.
