Novelty! The Skiavores are the bodies that the IE uses to deploy on the battlefield when they want to lead their troops from the front line of battle. The Skiavoros is the cheapest option available to a Combined Army player to deploy an EI corps and take advantage of their Strategos and Mnemotech Special Abilities, ensuring Deployment advantages and avoiding the Loss of Lieutenant situation. Skiávoros means "Eater of Shadows" but for his enemies it means "nightmare".
