TAU Textured Roller

The textured roller is an especially useful tool for adding patterns and textures to surfaces modeled with clays, pastes, or putties. Made of PMMA (transparent acrylic) with a non-stick finish. Safe material, free of toxic components.

Approximate Measurements:

  • Length: 14.5 cm (5.5”) **Extended version with texture across the entire surface of the roller
  • Diameter: 2.5 cm (1”)

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE:

  1. Prepare the putty or clay according to the product instructions, kneading it until you obtain a texture suitable for the job.
  2. Spread the material onto the desired base and ensure it is smooth and even before applying the texture. A smooth roller can be used for this step to facilitate smoothing.
  3. To prevent the material from sticking to the roller, it is recommended to lightly dampen it or apply a thin layer of modeling petroleum jelly, depending on the type of putty.
  4. Roll the tool applying firm and constant pressure, ensuring that you cover the entire surface evenly.
  5. Trim or adjust the edges once the material has completely hardened.

COMPATIBILITY:

You can use these rollers with a wide variety of materials.

Super Sculpey-type clays are very manageable with this tool, as they do not harden until baked, allowing more room for corrections. If you are creating textured bases, it is recommended to work on MDF wood bases. since they can be baked alongside the clay without any problems. The estimated time is 15 minutes at 150°C. The smell during baking may be reminiscent of toast, but the MDF wood will not burn.

For epoxy putties like green stuff, which is usually very sticky, it is advisable to wet the roller or apply a small amount of petroleum jelly. Talcum powder can also be used if a dry option is desired.

Milliput putty, also epoxy, is a good alternative, although it should not be over-wetted, as excess water makes it difficult to apply. If it is too soft or sticky, it is best to continue kneading until a better texture is achieved.

*** Once the work is finished, it is important to clean the rollers thoroughly so that they retain their definition.

RECOMMENDED CLEANING:

Use the Scratch brushes with plenty of water to remove any residue that remains stuck to the engraved details of the roller.

SAFETY INFORMATION:

Product not suitable for small children without proper supervision by an adult
