Scandinavian Textured Roller

Textured rollers for shaping and spreading all types of putties, clays, and pastes. Made of non-stick, transparent PMMA plastic. Non-toxic.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Mix the sculpting putty/clay thoroughly until ready to use according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

2. Spread the putty/clay onto the surface to be textured. For best results, level and smooth the surface properly before applying the rollers.

*** It is recommended to use a smooth roller for this purpose.

3. Depending on the type of material being used, it may be advisable to dampen the roller or use petroleum jelly of modeling, to prevent it from sticking.

4th Roll slowly, applying the same pressure at all points to obtain a similar texture.

5th Trim off the excess putty/clay. It is recommended to do this once the putty/clay has dried.

MATERIALS:

There is a wide variety of putties and clays on the market. All of them can be textured by applying the appropriate technique.

Generally, polymer clays (like Super Sculpey) are quite easy to work with using these rollers and allow for easy correction of mistakes since they do not dry until they are baked. If the goal is to create textured bases, we recommend using MDF bases since it is possible to texture the clay directly onto the MDF base, and then put everything in the oven, base included. The baking time for clays is 15 minutes at 150ºC. The MDF wood will leave a smell similar to toasted bread, but it won't burn.

In the case of epoxy putties, there are more differences and more techniques to obtain similar results. The positive aspect is that baking is not necessary and they can be applied directly to plastic materials.

In the case of Green Stuff (or greenstuff), which is especially sticky, it will be necessary to dampen the rollers with a little water. You can also reduce the stickiness of this putty by applying talcum powder or, for the best results, a little modeling petroleum jelly.

Other epoxy putties such as Milliput are also suitable, but it is not advisable to wet them excessively, as this will make them difficult to work with. On the other hand, if the mixture is too sticky, it is best to continue kneading until its stickiness is reduced.

With this type of putty, it is very important to clean the rollers properly after each use.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE:

Once the work is finished, if any material remains on the roller's pattern, clean it with the special Scratch brushes and plenty of water.
