Index Card RPG is a multiverse game with a d20 system that's easy to set up, easy to play, and easy to hack, without sacrificing anything important.

Whether you come from D&D (and your love for d20 is unwavering), from OSR (and the DIY spirit moves with you), or you love narrative above all else... ICRPG will be your perfect toolbox. Take its mechanics and bring them to your regular gaming table, then eventually embrace its approach.

Over almost 10 years, Runehammer and ICRPG have garnered a huge international fanbase. That game, initially captured on index cards, has grown to its latest version, the Master Edition, published with Modiphiüs, and now released in Spanish by El Refugio de Ryhope.

"All the familiarity you need with all the new things you'll learn to love."

The essence of the game system remains the classic d20... "Rolling 1d20 to attack a monster is too good to be changed, but there are many other things in role-playing games that are ripe for an update."

Its flagship chapter is the GM's Guide, revered by role-players around the world, ICRPG fans, and game masters in general. Its approach, what it says, and how it says it make this guide a reference toolbox for every role-player, and one that you can apply whether you play ICRPGs or any other system you're familiar with.

"ICRPG is a way of thinking," and some of its key elements are:

Play in turns. Yes, like in board games. Try it! It works like a charm.

The objectives. "All rolls in a scene are made against a single, all-powerful number: the Objective. Whether it's hitting an enemy, or the difficulty of exploring in dense fog, or deciphering the cryptic symbols of a dead language. There's only one Objective in a scene, and all rolls must equal or exceed that number to succeed.

Effort Dice. The insane amount of things that make players roll dice is compressed here into simple EFFORT categories, each with its own die type. Going back to what everyone understands, for example, weapon damage; here it boils down to: if you attack with your fists you roll 1d4, standard weapons 1d6, firearms 1d8, magic weapons 1d10, and if you critically roll, use the almighty d12. Effort is also used for other tasks.

Hearts: This time, like in classic video games, where an enemy's hit points (HP) were counted in hearts. Here, each heart is equivalent to 10 effort points (when you want to complete tasks) or damage (when referring to the character's life).

Clean Stats: There are no skills, derived numerical formulas, feats, or talents. This game system only uses a character's six main Characteristics for rolls, as well as for making Attempts, Tests, and generally doing amazing things.

In addition to all this, you'll find an explanation of the core of the system, a complete player's guide, a chapter on monsters, a guide to magic and tables, 30 pages of tables of all kinds, and five worlds to play in:

Alfheim. A fantasy world set on a continent of ancient kingdoms and conflicts, with Durathrax, the eternal dragon, at the center of the conflict.

Warp Shell. The cosmos hangs in the balance as our heroes travel through it in a sentient spaceship.

Ghost Mountain. A place trapped between earth, heaven, and hell, a purgatory where heroes stay alive or try, and where you'll find things that look like gold and glitter but are actually fallen souls, pure Weird West.

Justicar City. Mutants, megacriminals, supernatural enemies, and supersoldiers roam free. The old masks have failed, and the only hope lies with you. You're not cosmic superheroes, but you're not lacking in powers either. Put on your suits and get out there.

Blood and snow. A world hidden beneath the Ice Age. Imagine a primitive, everyday world where, as an individual, you belong to a tribe. A place where survival is the goal, shrouded in mystery and omens, filled with nuances, languages, religions, and wonders, but also with ferocious beasts, fighting, like you, to remain in this world. "There are numerous forum threads and long comment threads about what can be found in this edition. It basically compiles and revises the three core books that made up the second edition. It includes a lot of new art, cleaner designs, and some class changes. And, above all, it attempts to process the feedback from over 10,000 readers and players around the world," Runehammer wrote about ICRPG Master Edition.
