Hugo had barely loosened the slab of the burial chamber on the wall when thick smoke gushed out of a gap and condensed into a shape. Startled, Hugo and his companions backed away as the figure continued to take shape. With horror they realized that death incarnate was before them. Or was this just a successful illusion that was supposed to use magic to prevent intruders from plundering one of the graves? Hugo didn't want to find out and fled. Shortly thereafter, his companions did the same, accompanied by a chilling laugh that made their hair stand on end.

Whether this is death personified, hocus-pocus or a demon is up to your imagination .
