The firelight and the glowing lava that erupted from a crack in the floor cast insane shadows on the walls and ceiling of the vault. Some shadows seemed to take shape and move towards Hugo and his companions. Then, suddenly, one of those shadows began to speak in a deep voice, and after Hugo's eyes adjusted to the strange light, he recognized a large, horned figure standing at the end of the cave. Dressed in a loincloth, his skin red or reddish only from the firelight, he stood there! The three-pronged infernal fork threateningly set up, the devil himself made it clear to them that there was no way through here and from that moment on Hugo was satisfied with an escape...
