Though capable of slashing attacks, the true strength of House Lannister halberds lies in their defensive formations, which allow them to provide cover for their ranged units against cavalry charges. An enemy general would have to be insane to order a frontal attack against such a dangerous weapon with such a long range. Charging infantry units should also consider carefully whether they want to take on a closed phalanx of halberds. Caution is advised against enemy flanking maneuvers and hails of arrows, but in the right position there is nothing that can get past the halberds' watchful gaze.
