During the reign of Emperor Yao, the people of ancient China were constantly ravaged by the devastating floods of the Yellow River.

Eager to end this destruction, Yao chose Gun, one of his officials, to devise a plan.

But after nine years of failed attempts using dikes and canals, Gun's contract came to an abrupt end…

After his death, Yu inherited his father's work and, having learned from Gun's failures, set about constructing a series of canals to direct the river's floodwaters into nearby streams and fields.

The Legacy of Yu is a fully resettable, non-linear, single-player campaign game in which you will take on the role of the legendary Xia Dynasty hero, Yu the Great.

Your task will be to construct the Canals in anticipation of the impending Flood, while simultaneously defending your growing settlement from neighboring Barbarian tribes.

In each game, you'll discover new parts of the story and new gameplay elements will be added. The campaign includes a game balancing system that adapts to your performance and ends after you've won or lost 7 games. In most campaign games, you'll typically encounter an introductory game that familiarizes you with the gameplay system, but in the case of Yu's Legacy, you can jump straight into the story and begin progressing through the campaign.

Don't worry if you lose your first few games.

Even losing will help you unlock new elements and advance the story.
