Fief is a game of conquest and diplomacy for 3 to 6 players.

Each player represents a noble family trying to become the most powerful in the kingdom.

The The game takes place on a board that represents a kingdom from the Middle Ages. The kingdom is made up of towns that are connected to each other by roads; each town is part of a fief but also of a bishopric.

The players will try by all means to occupy the towns and thus win fiefs to get the titles linked to them, as well as the rights to name the king, queen, or pope.

Each player starts with a feudal lord, a castle, and some troops, which he places in a village.

Players can try to gain victory by themselves or by allying with other players through marriage commitments. Solo victory is very difficult to achieve, so players must negotiate, reach agreements and forge alliances, although like everything in life nothing lasts forever...

Each player has 3 (and only 3) Embassy tokens which will allow you at any time to start a 3-minute private discussion/negotiation with the player(s) of your choice. Therefore it is necessary to manage these negotiations well.

In each turn the players draw cards. Those cards are either Character cards that allow new lords to be brought into play, or Event cards, such as good harvests, taxes, or good weather. They can then play whatever cards they have to apply their effects, usually on a fief or bishopric.

Certain special cards can be played at any time during the game turn, causing unexpected and wicked events: assassination , underground tunnel (which allows to invade a castle)…

The players then receive income: each town or mill controlled reports shields. You can get certain bonuses from cards such as taxes or titles such as king. With that income, players can buy troops and buildings that they put on the map.

Then they move their lords from town to town following the paths. Lords can bring their troops with them, but troops cannot move alone without a lord.

When all players have made their moves, fights take place in towns or wherever the troops of the lords are located. different players. The combat takes place in several rounds; each round the strength of each army is calculated, which determines the number of combat dice they roll. Casualties are applied directly to opposing troops. Combat ceases when one side is decimated, surrenders, or by mutual agreement. Castles and towns give defensive bonuses.

When you control all towns in a fiefdom and have at least one castle in one of those towns, players can purchase the fiefdom title, and assign it to one of their lords. Once assigned, a title can only be conquered by force by capturing the fief's capital or if the lord dies and has no heir.

Voting allows titles of bishops, king and pope to be assigned . These great titles grant different advantages and ultimately victory points to win the game.

Fiefdom is a great game of strategy, negotiation, diplomacy and betrayal. This reissue of this great classic game that was born in 1981 updates the design and all the contents of the game, including the rules.
