The year is 1793. All of France is suffering under the terror of the Tribunal Révolutionnaire. Not even the innocent are safe from arbitrariness and from the sharp blade of the guillotine. In the midst of this turmoil, a man of courage and cunning fights against brutality: The Scarlet Pimpernel!

Along with his followers, the Scarlet Pimpernel saves the innocent condemned to death by the tribunal. Each time he leaves behind a card with a small pimpernel flower. However, the man behind the Scarlet Pimpernel's mask, the Englishman Sir Percy Blakeney, must keep his true identity a secret.

In The Scarlet Pimpernel you play as one of the Scarlet Pimpernel's followers and help him in seven missions, where he saves innocents from the guillotine. In the final and most important mission, you rescue none other than the young Dauphin, heir to the French throne. To do this, you have to kidnap him as far away as Vienna.

The game:

In The Scarlet Pimpernel, in each of the seven rounds the players reveal one mission card as the "current mission". Each Mission map shows a location, required number of supporters, and resources needed to complete the mission.

As a follower of the Scarlet Pimpernel, you help complete the missions by securing the route and location and assisting the Scarlet Pimpernel in obtaining the required number of followers and resources (horses, carts, papers, and disguises).

To do this, you skillfully place your dice in the most appropriate places on the board, use your pawn or use ?special favors? acquired during the game?"
