It's not easy being a zoo animal! The enclosures are too small for their needs, the daily routine is boring and the visitors are completely obnoxious and often throw their garbage in the enclosures. After an unfortunate incident, the zoo plans to transfer some of the animals to an even smaller partner park in just eight days. That's the last straw! The animals decide to run away and want to escape from the zoo in the next seven days. But now the question arises how to do it. Multiple ideas come to their minds and all that junk eventually becomes useful, if the animals can collect enough. Unfortunately, the zookeepers clean up the trash every morning. And then there is the even bigger problem: How to make the other animals understand? The monkey shouts excitedly, the elephant trumpets loudly. But what are they saying? What items were they able to collect? Which escape plan is more promising? They have to find a way to communicate because it's time to leave the zoo!
In KuZOOka, players start each round by receiving a new set of item cards that cannot be revealed to each other. Instead, they try to let others know what cards they have and what escape plan to use by cleverly placing their marker on the game board. It shows the colors of the different elements, as well as the numbers that go from smallest to largest. On his turn, a player must propose a new plan by moving his animal marker to a space farther away than the previous player or end the current escape attempt. In the latter case, all players reveal their items and if the color and number of available items match the current escape plan proposal, the attempt succeeds. The animals gain experience with each try, giving them more cards in subsequent rounds. Only if they manage to collect enough items and successfully communicate will they be able to leave the zoo for good. Each animal also has a special ability that you can use once a day.
