John Company 2ª Edition (Spanish)

John Company is a game about state-sponsored business monopoly. Unlike most economic games, players often do not control their own companies. Instead, they will collectively guide the Company by securing positions of power, attempting to direct the fate of the Company in ways that serve their own interests. However, the Company is a difficult thing to handle. It's hard to do anything alone, and often players will have to negotiate with each other. At John Company, almost everything is up for negotiation. Ultimately, this game is not about wealth; it's about reputation. Each turn, some of your family members may retire from their positions with the Company, giving them the opportunity to establish estates. Critically, players do not have full control over when these withdrawals occur. You will often need to borrow money from other players to make the most of the chance to fold. Players also earn victory points by competing in the London Season for prestige and securing fashionable properties. The John Company is very serious about its subject matter. It is meant as a candid portrait of an institution that was as dysfunctional as it was influential. Consequently, the game addresses many of the key themes of imperialism and globalization in the 18th and 19th centuries and how those developments felt domestically. As such, this game might not be suitable for all players. Make sure everyone in your group agrees to this exploration before playing.
