Kameko held the knife in a shaky hand and sliced a long cut along her palm, allowing the blood to spill on the cold ground. "I call upon you as my ancestors did in times of old! Hear the call of my blood and answer my request!" She waited at the mouth of the cave, and for a moment, she despaired.

But in the depths something stirred. Something old. And hungry. Slowly the spiders emerged, covered in dust and detritus. Awakened from their long slumber, they carried their heavy glaives. Kameko trembled. "Go to Malifaux, find the one called Misaki and give her aid. If you do, they will spare my family."

"And you know our price, girl?" The beast snarled, its voice like a razor being sharpened.

Kameko nodded, tears streaming down her face as the spider seized her.
