First time we saw the Pale Rider we were following a Silurid round the edge o the Bayou. We came down one riverbank, and there he was on tother, staring at us. Looked just like they say.

Davey saw him first, and next day the Silurid saw Davey first, and twas only two of us rode back.

Second time, Chang saw him first, and it was Chang we buried week after, after that dead thing in the City boneyard that wouldnt die proper.

And last night, as we left the city gates, there he was ridin next to me. Thin as the gallows, bleached like a corpse in the desert, ridin something like a madmans dream of a horse. Kitted out like a Death Marshal, though he aint no Marshal the Ladys ever sworn in.

So I know this fightll be my last. You got to give this letter to my darling Beth. You understand? I trust you.
