Malifaux 2E: Arcanists - Essence of Power (1)

The power inherent in Malifaux can manifest itself in unique ways, one of which is when it has been given form, resembling a living creature. These spirits have been named Essences of Power by the Arcanists who tame them, a name coined because of their ability to enhance any spell that is cast near it. Since it is power that forms its core, any strength that has been borrowed by an Arcanist wounds the spirit directly, but there is little it can do to escape the hands of a powerful mage.
