With their stout shields and thick scale armor, the sworn shields of House Tully constitute the heaviest troops serving under the banner of House Stark. Capable of fending off even the most stubborn enemy assaults, sworn shields prove to be the vital backbone of any Stark army. Like all heavy troops, they lack great speed; however, their relentless advance keeps the enemy line in a constant state of retreat. Skilled commanders can use a sworn shield formation as a shelter for lighter units retreating after a successful attack on the enemy while still protecting their vulnerable flanks. Only the strongest will survive the War of the Five Kings, and sworn shields are very strong.
