Although capable of staging offensive assaults, House Lannister's halberdiers excel at defensive formations and positions, particularly when protecting ranged combat units from full-blown cavalry charges. Only the most reckless of cavalry commanders would consider a frontal assault against such dangerous weapons and their long range. Even charging infantry should think twice before facing an entrenched Halberdier formation. Care should be taken to protect halberdiers from flanking maneuvers and ranged attacks; however, when used properly, nothing beats a halberdier's watchful eye.
