TIKAL

Tikal is the largest and most important of the Mayan culture settlements, located in the middle of an almost impenetrable jungle in northern Guatemala. Your mission will be to lead a group of adventurers who have gone in search of fascinating treasures of a lost civilization.

Tikal is a game of exploration, placement and majorities, with a simple but profound tactic. Each player is the director of an expedition that tries to explore Tikal, one of the largest archaeological sites in South America, in search of the secret paths that lead to the temples and treasures that have been kept hidden for nearly 1,000 years.

Players send their scouting teams into the jungle, uncovering the terrain in their path. Along the way you will encounter temples and treasures, and you will try to get victory points by occupying the temples and clinging to the treasures. You have a limited number of action points per turn to lead your team through the jungle, discover temples, find treasures and set up camps ... So be careful, as the other explorers will try to beat you to get the benefits of new discoveries, Tikal is coveted and competition is fierce!

Although the mechanics are simple, it is a very tactical game: the order in which you play your actions will be decisive. The board will be built from hexagonal tiles and resin temple pieces, and you must anticipate your opponents' decisions if you want your scouting team to be the best in all of Tikal.

Tikal has been named a finalist for Game of the Year 2017. He has also received several award nominations and won the Spiel des Jahres award in 1999.

It is part of the so-called "Mask Trilogy", together with Cuzco and Mexica.
