Akropolis: Athena is an expansion for the Akropolis board game set in the ancient Mediterranean, where architects compete to build prestigious cities.

The theme revolves around winning the favor of Athena, the goddess of wisdom, war, and crafts, to gain wealth and honor.

In this game, players must use their skills to complete specific building cards, creating designs within their cities that match the cards. As they complete these cards, they can acquire parts of the Statue of Athena and obtain mini-tokens to improve their cities. The goal is to strategically build your city while completing these building cards to gain points and additional advantages.

The game integrates the core rules of the Akropolis base game with the added challenge of completing the Building cards. Each architect can only complete each Building card once and must carefully manage their resources and locations to maximize their points.

The game ends when only one tile remains in the Building Zone and all the stacks have been used. Points are tallied as usual, but players who have completed the Statue of Athena receive bonus points for their Stones, adding a layer of strategy to the game. The ultimate goal is to have the most prestigious city at the end of the game, based on the accumulated score.
