Tak

Tak is a board game originally from the well-known Patrick Rothfuss novel, The Fear of a Wise Man.

It is an elegant strategy game for 2 players, a refined entertainment of the Vintas court. When the book was written, Tak was an interesting but imaginary game. Now, Patrick Rothfuss and James Ernest have joined forces to make it real. Hence Tak was born: A beautiful game.

The goal of Tak is to create a path, that is, a chain of pieces of your color that connects two opposite sides of the board. In your turn, you can place a stone in an empty square, or move one of the batteries under your control. There are also two special pieces, one from each player, that introduce a key strategic element: the pieces can be placed lying down or standing, and these special pieces (called cornerstones) can knock down other pieces that were standing.
