After scoring 10 victories in Me110s Borchers increased his tally to 46 whilst flying the Ju88. Shortly after claiming his 46th enemy near Altenburg he was shot down and killed by an RAF Mosquito night-fighter. He flew throughout the war until being shot down in March 1945.
