So the great mans machinations have torn themselves apart, as the Hag saw they would, and the catastrophe that his failure threatened to visit upon Malifaux has been averted. The land still sits beneath its sun and moon, and the days and nights turn, and the people move on anew.

But the end was never averted. The dark is still waiting. The Carrion Emissary knows this truth, carries it reverently like a funerary urn.
