More info

In Lone Wolves, players become leaders of wolf packs and compete for territory to become the alpha. To assert your dominance and secure victory, send wolves into territories. The strongest wolf wins, strengthening your pack's position. However, even if wounded in battle and left to become a lone wolf, the weakest wolf learns from the experience and improves their pack's standing for the next encounter. In your fight, you must know when to bare your teeth and when to act alone.

Lone Wolves is a dueling game for two players with trick-taking and area majority elements, played over thirteen rounds (tricks). Players begin with thirteen cards, and each trick consists of each player playing a single wolf card. There are five suits with cards numbered 2 through 7 (thirty cards total). However, cards are played in one of five territories of your choice, each of which awards points to the player who controls it at the end of the game. The card's value represents the force sent to that territory. The winning card in a trick remains face up, while the other player's wolf is turned face up to its lone wolf side (with a strength of 1). The owner of the losing card gains a scar token, which is placed in a territory. Scar tokens have effects such as awarding points for specific cards played in territories, altering strength values, or affecting the points awarded in territories.

However, unlike most trick-taking games, the trump suit in Lone Wolves is dynamic and changes as the game progresses. Once all the scar tokens in a territory have been collected, the corresponding suit becomes trump; when this happens a second time, the trump suit changes again. The tug-of-war of knowing when to win or lose the trick means there are no weak hands, only weak leaders!
