What is Gloomhaven: Buttons & Bugs?

Gloomhaven: Buttons & Bugs is a single-player game with an original campaign story written by Isaac Childres, featuring gameplay similar to Gloomhaven at a fraction of the size.

Gloomhaven: Buttons & Bugs takes place after the events of Gloomhaven and Forgotten Circles.

Recluse Aesther Hail has earned a reputation for playing a pivotal role in saving the town from recurring disasters, and she absolutely hates it.

Wanted heroes constantly break into her studies at Crooked Bone, seeking help to become famous, not to mention all the demons who come seeking revenge. She briefly considered moving, but since that would require effort, she simply placed an enchantment on the front door: anyone who tries to open it is miniaturized and thus no longer a problem.

Gameplay in Gloomhaven: Buttons & Bugs

Your character is one of those would-be heroes. In a reckless attempt to achieve fame, they try to visit Hail and poof! Now they're the size of a mouse and have entered a completely different realm of anarchy and self-preservation. They must find a new way into Crooked Bone to convince Hail to return them to their former size.

Each scenario is a single card, pitting a mercenary against a handful of enemies with simplified actions and AI. Each mercenary has a hand of only four double-sided cards, but these can be used twice (face up and face down) before being discarded. Attacks are resolved using a die along with a modifier table, and both the table and the mercenaries' skill cards can be upgraded as you level up throughout the campaign.
