Code Names: Duo is a cooperative game for two or more players, combining intrigue, espionage, and secret codes. Step into the shoes of a spy and play against the clock to discover the secret code with your teammates! This game is based on its predecessor, Code Names, but in a cooperative format. Code Names: Duo was released in 2017 and designed by the renowned Vlaada Chvátil (Galaxy Trucker, Through the Ages, Mage Knight). It allows for games with 2 to 99 players, with games lasting less than 30 minutes. But what makes this Code Names: Duo different from the original game? Mainly, the talented Vlaada Chvátil cleverly adapted the mechanics of the famous Code Names to create a cooperative game. While the core concept remains the same, the game gains a new dimension thanks to the added tension. The timer makes the game frantic. You only have 9 turns to guess the agents. The last few turns are like a ticking time bomb! In the two-player mode, the difficulty level is quite high, as you need excellent communication with your partner: you must be able to understand their thought process and collaborate to unravel the mystery behind the secret code. It includes a fantastic campaign mode, with varying time limits and changing success criteria depending on the game. As mentioned, Duo maintains the same dynamic where you must guess words by linking concepts, while avoiding others. One player knows the location of 9 of the 15 agents, and the other player knows 9 others (some will overlap, of course). There will always be three "killers" on the board: these are forbidden words that, if the other player chooses them, will cause them to lose the game immediately. Be very careful with the clues you give! However, the roles of the assassins aren't the same for all players: what might be an agent for you could be an assassin for your partner! This adds confusion and chaos to your games! Code Names: Duet is a fantastic game that adds a cooperative mode to the great secret word-guessing mechanics of the original.
