La Gran Guerra: Ejército French

THE GREAT WAR: FRENCH ARMY

French Army is the second expansion of the game The Great War and is set, as its name suggests, in the battles in which the involved the French Army. When Germany declared war on Russia on August 1, 1914, France honored its treaty with Russia and moved to meet the German offensive. Germany, as expected, passed through Belgium… and the rest is history. Although the French Army fought many battles, the scenarios in this expansion are based on their most famous campaign: Verdun. The Battle of Verdun took place from February to December 1916, and is a testament to the strength and endurance of the French armed forces.

The French Army expansion features 12 scenarios from this famous battle. The box includes an instruction and scenario manual, 2 special personnel and terrain summary sheets, 3 die-cut cardboard sheets of double-sided terrain tiles, various types of markers, and a full French army of poilus (French soldiers) of plastic. The French army consists of 48 infantry figures, 3 French bombers, 3 machine gun teams (each with 1 machine gun and 4 soldiers), and 3 mortar teams (each with 1 mortar and 4 soldiers).

< p>Also included are 14 special personnel figures: engineers, flamethrowers, light machine gunners and spotters. These figures add new rules to the base game, and when added to a unit, they allow that unit to modify its normal actions according to the type of special staff figure it has been assigned.
