More info

Warfighter is a cooperative game (up to 6 players) in which all players (or a single player alone) fight together to complete a mission, while the game system controls the enemy forces. Players win if they successfully complete their mission objective as described on the objective cards, but lose the game if they run out of available game turns to complete the mission or the last member of the team dies.
Game System

Warfighter is a card game designed by Dan Verssen, which recreates at a tactical level the combat during World War II in Europe. The game is played through missions that are independent of each other. For each mission, players select one or more soldiers along with their skills, equipment, and weapons with the resource limits imposed by the mission. Players will only have the weapons and equipment they have selected and carry to face the enemies they find on their way, so planning and preparing the mission is vital to its success.

Once they have created their custom squad, players will enter enemy territory to try to accomplish their mission. They have around 30-60 minutes, which is how long a game usually lasts, to accomplish their mission or fail in the attempt.

Warfighter is a cooperative game (up to 6 players) in which all players (or a single player alone) fight together to accomplish a mission, while the game system controls the enemy forces. Therefore, there will be no winning or losing player: all players win or lose the game as a team.

Players will win if they successfully complete their mission objective as described on the objective cards, but they will lose the game if they exhaust the game turns available to complete the mission or the last member of the team dies.

Although each game is a stand-alone mission, a campaign of several missions can be played with the same squad by improving the skills of the men and replacing fallen soldiers in combat.

Therefore, the initial deployment that begins with the selection of a mission card is fundamental to the development of the game. This mission card determines how many points the players will have available to generate for their squad, and the duration of the game in turns, among other game parameters. One of the most important parts of this initial deployment is the selection of soldiers, their skills, and their equipment and weapons. The players' squad will be made up of player soldiers (one or more for each player) and non-player soldiers. The non-player soldiers start the game with a series of specific weapon cards, skills, and equipment that appear on their cards.

Once the game begins, the players have a certain number of game turns to complete their mission. The game sequence consists of a soldier turn followed by an enemy turn.

During the soldiers' turn, each player soldier can perform 2 actions such as moving, attacking, reloading, recovering, although they also have a series of free activities such as playing action cards, or location cards, exchanging equipment, etc.

On the other hand, non-player soldiers will have their cards indicate how many actions they can perform and it will be the player controlling them who decides which actions to perform.

In this way, all the soldiers in the platoon take turns performing one of the 2 available actions or one of the free ones (the non-player soldiers), until both the player and non-player soldiers have performed the available actions.

The single-roll combat system allows for taking into account various factors such as the soldier's weapon firing mode, distance to the target, available ammunition, soldier skills, cover or suppressive fire.

On the enemy turn, reinforcement cards are drawn, the enemies attack and move towards the players, they recover and finally the turn marker is advanced. During the enemy's turn, soldiers can perform some actions or activities such as playing action cards, using weapons, or using equipment that specifically indicates that they can be used during the Enemy's Turn.

If the players manage to fulfill the mission objective, they will have won the game, but they will have a limited time to do so: if they reach the turn indicated by the mission card or all the soldiers fall, they will be defeated.
