Travelers from the southern lands

Travelers from the Southern Lands is set at the height of the Abbasid Caliphate, around 820 AD. As brave explorers, cartographers and astronomers, players set out from Baghdad to map the surrounding lands, their waterways and the skies above them. They must carefully manage their caravan of workers, their equipment, and report regularly to the House of Wisdom to record their discoveries. Will you impress the Caliph or will you lose your way and succumb in the wilderness?

The goal of Southern Travelers is to be the player with the most Victory Points at the end of the game. Points are primarily earned by mapping the land, water, and sky, although players can also earn points by upgrading their Caravans, earning Inspiration, and by earning Influence in the three Councils of Science, Trade, and Exploration. As they make discoveries, players will try to quickly record their progress. The game ends when one of the players reaches the rightmost column of the Travel Diary.
