In 59 BC, Gaius Julius Caesar, Gnaeus Pompey Magnus and Marcus Licinius Crassus, faced with the intransigence of the Roman Senate in the face of their particular projects and ambitions, sealed an unofficial political pact commonly known as the First Triumvirate. Thus was born a “three-headed Monster”, in the words of Varro, destined to change the course of the history of the Roman State.

Triumviratus is a flexible expansion of the ONUS! series that offers you the opportunity to take command of the armies of Gaius Julius Caesar, Gnaeus Pompey Magnus, Marcus Licinius Crassus and the civitates of Gaul, as well as an extensive selection of all-new allied and mercenary forces, to immerse yourself directly in the armed conflicts that changed the course of the history of Rome, Europe and the Near East between 59 and 44 BC.

Pompey’s army box puts this great Roman general at the head of his hosts, as well as his sons, Pompey the Younger and Sextus Pompey, alongside the hero of the Republic Metellus Scipio, determined to defend the Roman State from Caesar’s ambitions… and in favor of their own! To accomplish these objectives, the experienced Pompeian commanders have a plethora of Marius’ mules, Antesignani “special forces,” and numerous recruits with which to overwhelm the enemy, but also allies harvested by the powerful Pompeian gens in Hispania, such as Iberian scutati and the Spanish Vernacular Legion, willing to serve their masters to the death. Scipio adds to these hosts the Numidian infantry and elephants recruited in Africa – sometimes by overly persuasive means – to crush anyone who dares to oppose them, no matter how powerful or how many victories they have achieved in battle.
