The expansion of the Nile - Barrage

Cairo, July 8, 1924

From a distant dune, Joseph Fontaine gazes out at the shimmering surface of the Nile.

Despite the shade cast by the oasis's palm trees, the heat is unbearable and your fan is useless. Besides, the mosquitoes are eating him alive. His grandfather described Egypt as a magical place and told stories about Napoleon's campaign, but to Joseph all those stories seem exaggerated. What Mr. Fontaine is looking for is not glory or adventure, but money. The clink of ice against the glass takes him back in time, just when he started his crazy journey.

The energy crisis forced companies to excavate and drill mountains, modifying and creating new rivers. They built dams that left less and less room for arable land. People had energy to light a light bulb, but no food to fill their stomachs with. That was when he began the race to acquire the lands near the lakes and rivers. And what better place to buy land than by the Nile, where humans have farmed for thousands of years?

Suddenly, Joseph slaps his hand on the table, then lifts it up, looking at it, revealing a dead mosquito Mr. Fontaine smiles as he thinks of his competitors.
