Empires of the Mediterranean is a game accessible to players of any level of experience from 12 years old, it is not a wargame but a simple strategy game. The game has been designed so that fun and playability prevail, the key to achieving this is the constant interaction between the players.
Each player has a deck of cards, these cards are their resources (troops, fleets, leaders, etc. ). The game is divided into 3 turns, each turn is divided into several game rounds, but the players will not know how many will be played as the end of the turn is indicated by a roll of the dice.
The game also has a component historical. Each player controls an empire that has its own independent game deck with its own historical characteristics: Greece, Macedonia, Persia, Egypt, Carthage, Rome, Spain and Gaul. However, in order to equalize the power, fun and chances of winning for each player, each deck is based on a specific period, although different from classical antiquity.


Components:
Board a full color mounted and lined: An ancient vintage map depicting the Mediterranean divided into historical regions that are used according to the setting. The most important cities of antiquity are shown on the board, represented by a city symbol, and a ship if the city has a port, and the barbarian areas represented by a circle. Barbarian cities and areas are connected by land roads or sea straits.
280 playing cards spread over 8 decks of 35 cards, a different one for each empire. In each deck we can find 7 different types of cards: Troop, Fleet, Leader, City Defense, City Attack, Empire Cards and Specials.
330 Wooden Markers: 32 fortification markers per empire, 50 neutral fortification markers, 24 barbarian pacified zone markers.
