Paleo: The White Whale

This expansion module for Paleo takes us to a prehistoric camp on the coast. By the sea, the group enjoys a peaceful existence and is learning to sail. But lately there are rumors about a monstrous creature that terrifies anyone who dares to venture into the high seas...

Ready to face new dangers in Prehistory? The White Whale expansion includes a deck of sea cards, which are used when the party decides to go sailing. Instead of revealing a card from their pile, a player may decide to go sailing; the only two requirements are that someone has a raft and that no player has put their party to bed yet. For the duration of the voyage, all groups automatically help each other, facing the dangers that await on the 13 sea charts.

The objective of carrying out the action of going sailing is to find the great white whale. Throughout the game, the party will have an active mission card on the table, indicating success or failure in searching for the whale. If the search is unsuccessful, during the night phase the players receive a skull token as the creature makes a surprise attack on someone in the sea. Remember that if you all accumulate 5 skull tokens you will lose the game!

The difficulty of this module increases with the number of players. Thus, in two-player games it is a challenge of medium difficulty, but in four-player games it becomes a real headache. This expansion also includes two dice with requirements on their faces, since some of the new cards require their roll to determine whether they are met or not depending on which requirements.

To enjoy the White Whale expansion module it is essential to have the base game. Paleo, the work of Peter Rustemeyer, is a cooperative game in which we put ourselves in the shoes of a group trying to survive in the Paleolithic. It is played with sets of cards that determine the dangers to face and the locations to visit. Thanks to its expansions, the possible combinations of scenarios, and therefore replayability, are counted in dozens.
