Paleo: Birds of Terror

The Birds of Terror expansion adds a new 18-card module to the Paleo cooperative game. Designed by Peter Rustemeyer, it allows games for 2 to 4 players, for ages 10 and up, lasting about 60 minutes. In this expansion, prehistoric Paleolithic tribes explore a new territory where they discover enormous and mysterious bird eggs. Your mission will be to find all the eggs before they hatch and cause you problems.

Like any other Paleo module, The Birds of Terror can be combined with any of the 10 card sets included in the base game. In most games, only two modules are used, which allows the level of difficulty to be modulated and create unique experiences, in addition to ensuring great replayability. Each tribe controls its own deck of cards, which it will discover little by little with the common goal of adding five victory points, represented by a cave painting of five pieces. However, if players accumulate 5 skull tokens they automatically lose.

In Paleo each player controls a prehistoric tribe in which there are warriors, gatherers, explorers or inventors. The tribes must cooperate to explore the surroundings, get food or make discoveries. All this to ensure their survival and prosper. The game takes place in several rounds and each of them has two phases, day and night. Throughout the day, players will collect resources, create tools and face different challenges, such as wild animals or hostile tribes. At night, the tribe distributes food and prepares for a new dawn.

With a medium difficulty, The Birds of Terror expands the possibilities of Paleo and promises to be a challenge for any group of players. Although it is a cooperative proposal in which consensus on a strategy is encouraged, all participants will have something to say, since each one, with their own deck, will make their own decisions.
