The populous city of King's Landing is generally considered a safe place to live because the gold cloaks, named for their peculiar clothing, regularly patrol its streets. Because of this, they can be seen almost anywhere in the city maintaining order and making sure that the law is followed according to the king's orders or, to be more precise, the orders of the Lannisters.
